Before he ever became Santa Claus, Nicholas prayed for guidance on how to best serve the Lord. His prayer was answered when a mysterious voice foretold the birth of a savior. Miraculously, he was able to meet that newborn baby, and his life changed forever. NICHOLAS, THE SANTA STORY is a heartwarming and imaginative story that connects the secular tradition of the Christmas holiday with the religious birth of Jesus Christ. This easy-to-read rhyming story was written by Tom Catalano, the co-author of POEMS FOR HIS GLORY. It is fully illustrated and appropriate for the entire family. It is sure to become a treasured family keepsake for years to come!
Author Tom Catalano and illustrator Lester Yokum have created a truly remarkable work of delightful historical fiction. Nicholas, the Santa Story is a memorable and heartwarming intersection of the Santa Claus Christmas tradition with the actual birth of Jesus.
Santa had a vision and he prayed for God to reveal His will for Santa’s life. His prayer was answered in a beautiful way. This is a thoughtful twist on Santa’s traditional story and is likely to become a favorite holiday tradition for the whole family.
Catalano’s perfect rhyme carries the story along and is understandable for young children. Some of the Illustrations are beautifully realistic while others are ‘flat’ images, but I gave the inconsistency a pass because I loved the story and rhyme so much.
Who would enjoy this book:
Any Christian family who celebrates Christmas would enjoy this book! Families who have a tradition of reading The Night Before Christmas classic should consider adding this book to their holiday tradition. The hardcover makes a nice keepsake gift for an elderly Christian parent or grandparent. Anyone who thinks Jesus is missing in our commercialized Christmas traditions would love this book.
How this story affected me:
I love a good rhyming story and this was one! I also love Jesus and feel saddened at how commercialized Christmas has become, so this book brought real joy to my heart. My husband’s favorite Christmas decoration is Santa kneeling with baby Jesus and it literally brought tears to my eyes to see this scene play out in the book. I highly recommend this book for families.
