Buying a gift for a Bible lover? You have some great options that involve awesome Bibles, but there’s so much more, too!
Before we dive in, let’s take a minute to talk about Bible versions or translations. You may or may not be familiar with the various options, but that’s alright. If you don’t know what Bible translation your gift recipient might like, a 2021 study showed that New International Version (NIV) is the most popular version, followed by King James Version (KJV). The exception is for Roman Catholics who most commonly use the New American Bible (NAB).

My recommendations will bring you to Amazon simply for their amazing variety of gifts, but also so you can see plenty of reviews before making your purchase. Any recommendation I’m making in this gift guide has at least 4 stars and over 200 reviews. You can simply use Amazon to browse and make your purchase elsewhere, too. What makes a good Bible for a gift?
Just like with any book, a hardcover or leather/imitation leather-bound book says “beautiful lasting heirloom” more than a softcover or e-book.
Also, a Bible with larger print is easier on the eyes than the tiny (6pt) print of many compact Bibles. Smaller Bibles are perfect for those who travel a lot and bring their Bible with them or for those who are really concerned about space, but those should be the rare exceptions.
I recommend a full-size Bible as a gift in most cases.
Best Bibles:
What is a Study Bible?
Study bibles include notes throughout that give the reader context, history, and guidance about the passages as they read. Let’s face it, the Bible can be confusing, so the study notes help readers absorb more of the message.
Study Bibles are perfect for newer Christians or for established Christians who are actively seeking to grow in their faith.

Bible Studies:
Give your Bible-loving recipient the meaningful experience of studying a particular book or aspect of the Bible.
I’ve got some specific recommendations for Bible Study below, but if you’re looking for a good general Bible Study, publisher New Growth Press has a great Gospel-Centered Life in the Bible series of eleven studies that cover a variety of themes. Each contains about 10 lessons and most (if not all) contain leader notes for group study.
Bible Study Notes:
Perfect way to organize key verses and thoughts for your Bible study-loving gift recipient.
Devotionals:
Devotionals tackle a particular theme and walk the reader through reflection to develop a closer relationship to Jesus. Devotionals are great gifts for Bible lovers!
Prayer Journals for Women:
Many people who enjoy reading the Bible would also enjoy a prayer journal. A prayer journal is a great gift in any case, but especially nice if you don’t know what type of Bible or supplemental gifts to purchase.
